A Postmodernist Critique of Michaelides' The Silent Patient

This critique endeavors to analyze Alex Michaelides' novel The Silent Patient (2019) in the light of Lyotard's theoretical philosophy of postmodernism. Postmodernism is a contemporary movement that poses significant challenges to conventional assumptions of knowledge, rationality, truth, and objectivity. The concept of postmodernity also involves the discussion of a complex set of ideas and theoretical discourses which resist a fixed definition and final closure. Jean Francois Lyotard's theory of postmodern metanarratives versus mininarratives was proposed and published in his The Postmodern Condition (1979). For this study, textual analysis as a research method has been used to trace the presence of postmodern characteristics in certain words, dialogues and conversations between the characters. The research ends with findings and recommendations for future research.

Film Adaptation of Saadat Hasan's Short Stories in Manto: A Postmodern Critique

The present study aims to analyze the process of the film adaptation with the help of a hermeneutic framework that covers the textual and contextual parameters. The current study builds affinities between adaptation, translation, and culture studies, junctures these theoretical aspects, and offers methodological and analytical tools for the study of the film adaptation. The model also provides a systematic analysis for the changes occurring in the process of adaptation (i.e., adaptation shifts) and interprets its socio-cultural bearings using a postmodernist lens. The study employs Mixed-Methods Sequential Explanatory Design to analyze and interpret the adaptation shifts in Manto. The results of the study look to be the nexus of forces that influence the adaptation process as a creative practice in the broader socio-cultural system and verify the interplay of adapter's re-interpretative, re-creative touch and social circumstances of a particular era

Theory of Deconstruction: A Study of Scholastic Scope Thereof

This research article primarily dealt with the impact of theory of deconstruction in various disciplines; it endeavored to study the power of pervasion of this notable literary and philosophical theory into other areas of study including the field of education, too. Theory of deconstruction as propounded by Jacques Derrida, famous French abstruse thinker and philosopher of twentieth century, emphasizes the transient nature of the meaning of a text by finding various aporias -- a logical dis-junction in a text -- and impasses lying in the text whatever. Such aporias disturb the underlying system of logic of the text under consideration leading to its own negation.Being considered as the main building block of Postmodernism --a style and concept in the arts characterized by distrust of theories and ideologies and by the drawing of attention to conventions -- this aggrandized theory has pervaded a great many fields of knowledge changing their fundamental claims altogether . In this way, this theory has gained much attention in the realm of knowledge. This article, as a matter of fact, studies this very influence of theory of deconstruction in the realm of various disciplines.

Allegorical Interpretation of Powers' The Overstory: A Postmodern Study

This study debates The Overstory from a postmodern allegorical point of view to draw multiple meanings. In essence, postmodern allegory draws attention to a text's true meaning. By analyzing the various symbols and emblems in Richard Powers' The Overstory, this study seeks to examine postmodern allegory and determine what it all means. Because in addition to being a classic allegory, it demonstrates the variety of meanings that may be ascribed to various visual and textual elements. It continues to be inviting. The idea has been divided into other categories, such as the relationship between trees and people, trees and other living things, and trees and spirituality. In the "Tree and Human" segment, the relationship between the two is looked at from a variety of angles to convey a variety of meanings through the characters. The importance of nature's life is demonstrated
in the second section of "Tree and the Other Living Things." The fourth and final part connects the connections between people and trees as a spiritual incarnation.
