Role of Personality and Psychological Attributes of Financial Managers in Capital Budgeting Decisions: Case of Spinning Industry of Pakistan

The current study aims to investigate the role of personality and psychological attributes of finance managers in the success of their capital budgeting decisions in the industrial sector of Pakistan. For said purpose, we employ a sequential explanatory mixed-method research design. First, the MBTI scale is used to explore the personality traits of the managers working in spinning firms. Then based on the result of the MBTI scale, ten financial managers were selected for semi-structured interviews. NVIVO 11 was used to perform qualitative data analysis. It is established from the results of thematic analysis; the commander is the most effective personality trait of managers for the successful capital budgeting decisions followed by executive, defender, virtuoso, and logistician. Further, the present study also establishes a significant connection between the personality traits of successful managers and their Psychological attributes.

Neo-Mitchellian Approach to Understanding Stakeholders Relationships in Organizations

Mitchell et al. (1997) proposed that stakeholder salience is directly proportional to the number of attributes of salience—power, legitimacy and urgency—as perceived by managers. However, till date, researchers have differences about these attributes as determinants of salience. To resolve these differences and to precisely specify the attributes that make a stakeholder salient in the eyes of managers we attempted to gain deeper insights into this phenomenon. For this purpose, we employed multiple case study strategy in a purely quantitative treatment—a unique mix. Our findings suggest that the attributes as conceived by Mitchell et al. (1997) are quite broad and general. Managers identify salient stakeholders based on specific types of these and few other attributes. We found that stakeholders that possess utilitarian power, influence legitimacy, criticality and organized proximity are attended by the managers.

Organizational Attributes as Determinant of Women Academicians' Career Development in Multan (Pakistan)

The study aims to explore Organizational attributes and their relation to career development. The career development of females was necessary for the country's economic progress. The data was collected through questionnaires from universities and two college female academic staff. The sample size was determined through a multi-stage sampling technique. The total sample size of the study was 301. The data were analyzed by applying simple linear regression. The findings of the study show that there are many issues related to the career development of females in organizational, but some have great influence such as Organizational/institutional behavior towards female employment, recognition of their work, standers of success, workplace harassment, biased attitude, glass ceiling, and transportation problems. Further researches must explore this problem at a broad level and include other sector female employees to identify their problems in career development. The government must formulate female-friendly policies to make it easier for females to work outside the home

Assessment of Occupational Stress Mental Health and Copying Style among Colleges’ Teachers based on Selected Demographic Attributes: A Case Study of Southern Districts of Punjab

The current study investigated work-related stress, mental health and copying styles of college teachers based on their demographic attributes. A sample of n=176 (males=115; females=61) lecturers working at the college level was taken and surveyed. Self-structured questionnaires consisted of occupational stress, mental health, and copying style. When comparing two different groups, females were more likely inclined to stress and mental health as compared with males (p < 0.05). Married lecturers reported higher mean scores on mental as compared with unmarried lecturers (p < 0.05). The findings showed that there were no statistically significant changes in the research variables based on the participants' age, experience, or type of employment (p > 0.05), with the exception of copying style based on age (p 0.05). When organizing an intervention programmed to advance and promote mental health, these findings must be taken into account.

A Planning Study on Spatial Attributes of Bus Stop Location for Efficient Public Transportation System

The most convenient and important part of the public transportation system is that provided by public buses, the most practical and cost-effective type of public transportation system. An expert system alone cannot accurately locate a bus stop. The "Natural Movement" theory of Space Syntax provides a deep understanding of "centrality" and urban activity, predicting the city's most dynamic streets and areas that serve as centres of urban activity. This study analyzed the city of Mansehra, Pakistan to provide a scientific evidence-based approach to planning of efficient transportation system. To find the best routes and bus stops, we computed centrality through spatial analysis and urban activity index, and vehicular and pedestrian traffic volume indices. The results of this research highlighted areas that are considered optimal traffic routes, busy city streets, and city centres, and represent the best locations for bus stop spacing in the city.
